Rare Colorized Original Wood Engraved Print
of the White House from Harper's Weekly,
March 17, 1877
From a photograph by Lewis E. Walker
The official title is "The White House,
Washington, D.C.", photographed
by L.E. Walker
The scene depicts the events on the
day of President Rutherford B. Hayes'
inauguration at the White House.

This is the actual image from Harper's Weekly
as it appeared on page 205, of V. 21, no 1055,
1877 March 17

This was presented as you see it here to a retiring
Kodak executive that worked at the White House
during the Reagan and Bush administrations.

The print was professionally framed
at Grafix, Washington, D.C. in the early 1990s.
The frame has a few very small marks
on the lower left of the frame.

I mail daily and this will be professionally
boxed for the safest shipping.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does your shop offer combined shipping?

Yes, just let us know and we'll work something out. No need to pay for shipping more than once.

Does your shop accept returns?

Yes, but with some exceptions. No returns on custom-made items. Part two - we will gladly accept a return within 14 days as long as it is returned to us in the same condition as when we sent it to you. Specifically, if an item is new and unused and in its original box and packaging it must be returned in an unused and unopened condition. Vintage and classic cameras, lenses, and certain pieces of vintage photogear carry no warranties or guarantees. By their very nature, older cameras are just that, old, and their electronics, levers, knobs, buttons, and dials can fail at any time. Let us know if you are returning something, maybe we can reach an agreement short of a full return. Part three - you will always pay for return shipping. Thanks

Will my purchase arrive well packaged?

Always! Carol and I take great care (and pride) in packaging your purchase. We are mindful of being "green" but often times green doesn't protect your package properly. We have been shipping items safely since 2003. We must say, however, that we are not responsible for mishandling by the carrier(s) or loss of an item. Most items and especially valuable items will always have insurance added.

How can I contact your shop?

We are on Etsy almost every day and the best way to get our attention is by starting an Etsy convo. We'll answer you quickly. We're generally in the shop until 11 PM EST.

Does your shop ever do custom orders?

Yes, we do. Just let us know what you want or are looking for and we'll see if we can make it happen.

Does your shop accept a best offer?

We think we have everything priced properly but we are here to make a sale and keep our customers happy. Let us know if you want to make an offer on something. I'm sure we will find a way to reach an accord.
